About Our Shows
Good Morning Pioneers
is our morning news show. The show presents
news, sports, and feature stories, as well as the daily announcements
and reminders.The show is produced by the Broadcast Journalism II classes
at Canyon Springs High School, and features stories produced by members
of both the Broadcast Journalism I and II classes. The show can be
seen every day on the main page of this web site.
Inside Canyon Springs
is
the video news magazine produced here at Canyon Springs. On each
show we take a look at the people and events in our school, as
well as the issues that affect the students and our staff.
The
Friday Focus
is a weekly feature that runs every
Friday after Good Morning Pioneers. This show takes an in-depth look
at the people and events at our school.
About Our Classes
Broadcast Journalism
I
students learn to write news, sports, and feature stories for use
on Good Morning Pioneers, our morning news show. The students also
learn the fundamentals of video photography, the proper use of sound
and music in videos, and how to storyboard a video project. The students
learn to use Final Cut Pro and Photoshop CS and work on Macintosh
computers.
Broadcast Journalism
II
students are are solely responsible for the daily production of Good
Morning Pioneers. Students create the introductions, station IDs,
as well as commercials and public service announcements that run
during the show. These students are also responsible for operating
the studio during special events that are broadcast live. They also
develop stories for our video news magazine, Inside Canyon Springs.
Broadcast Journalism
III
serve as producers for Inside Canyon Springs, our video
news magazine, and are responsible for all facets of that show. They
are also responsible for producing special events videos, such as
our magnet recruitment video. Students in Broadcast Journalism III
may also serve on the Executive Producers Council, the student governing
body for KCSL TV6
